Who I am

I’m Katy, and I run Yoga with Katy — gentle Hatha yoga classes, workshops and guided meditations in Hampshire. I am the data controller for the personal information described here. You can reach me any time at yogawithkaty@icloud.com.

What I collect

  • Booking details: your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), the number of places you book, and any notes you choose to share — for example an injury, pregnancy or accessibility need.
  • Payment status: whether a booking is paid or unpaid, and a payment reference. I never see or store your card details.
  • Messages: anything you send me by email, Facebook Messenger or Instagram.

Why I use it

  • To hold your place and let you know your booking is confirmed.
  • To contact you if a class, workshop or venue changes.
  • To teach safely and adapt the practice to any health needs you tell me about.
  • To keep basic records of payments for my accounts.

My lawful bases are contract (providing the class or workshop you booked), legitimate interests (running a small yoga business and keeping in touch about your booking) and legal obligation (tax and accounting records). Where you tell me about health conditions, I rely on your explicit consent so I can teach you safely — you never have to share it.

Who I share it with

I don’t sell your data and I don’t share it for marketing. I use a small number of trusted providers who process data on my behalf:

  • My website and booking database host, which stores your booking securely.
  • My email provider, which sends your booking confirmation.
  • Stripe, which handles card payments. Stripe processes your card details directly under its own privacy policy — I only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded.

How long I keep it

Booking details are kept for up to 12 months after the class or workshop so I can answer questions and manage repeat bookings. Records needed for tax purposes are kept for 6 years, as UK law requires. After that they’re deleted.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask me to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how I use it, or object to my using it. You can also withdraw consent at any time. Just email me and I’ll respond within one month — there’s no charge.

If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

This site doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Essential cookies may be set during card payment so the checkout works, and my private admin sign-in uses a cookie to keep me logged in.

Changes

If this policy changes I’ll update the date at the top of this page. Please do check back occasionally.
